Drums – Live! Hits Toronto

Come celebrate the art of drumming at the 2nd Annual Drums – Live! in downtown Toronto, ON, on July 21.

This all ages event first hit Toronto on April 8, 2005, and is back with three sets of drumkits hosting three sets of live music that will fuse together for a grand finale drum solo, all on one stage. Drums – Live! is the first event of its kind to come to the Toronto area, and organizers hope that it will “join the ranks with other national drum shows like the Montreal and Cape Breton drum fests.”

Drums – Live! will feature local Toronto drummers Vito Rezza, Wilson Laurencin and Rob Brown. They will be joined by the local jazz group, 5 After 4; bassist, Rich Brown and keyboardists, Andrew Craig and Courtenay Frazer. “The show is designed by musicians, for musicians and music lovers,” said Avia Reid, co-organizer of Drums – Live! “One of our main objectives is to promote and showcase some of the amazing local talent in the GTA. So although the primary focus of the show is drums, the drummers are backed up by some really amazing musicians.”

This wealth of talent can be seen and heard on July 21, at the Jane Mallet Theatre in the St. Lawrence Centre for the Arts, located on the corner of Yonge St. and Front St. Tickets are $15 each and are available through the St. Lawrence Centre’s box office, (416) 366-7723, Toll-free (800) 708-6754, www.stlc.com.

If there are local musicians interested in performing at future Drums – Live! events, feel free to contact organizers, who also host other drum clinics such as Brown’s Rhythm in the Round.
