Guitar Workshop Plus 2006 Dates Announced

The 2006 dates for the summer Guitar Workshop Plus have been announced. This music education workshop will be held from July 16-21, and July 23-28, in Toronto, ON, and then from August 14-19, in Vancouver, BC.

The Toronto sessions will be held at the Appleby College in Oakville, just west of Toronto, and the Vancouver session will be held at the University of BC. Guitar Workshop Plus is designed for musicians who are 12 to adult and offers all styles of music, including blues, jazz, rock, acoustic and classical. There are courses for all levels of players and classes cover guitar, bass, drums, keyboard and vocals. Each day consists of morning classes, late afternoon clinics that focus on songwriting, improvisation and vocals, ensemble performances and evening concerts.

There is definitely a Canadian twist this year as confirmed guest artists include Alex Lifeson and Rik Emmett. Robben Ford, Duke Robillard, Billy Sheehan, John Jorgenson, John Knowles and Mark Kelso are also confirmed speakers. Administrators have been organizing summer workshops for 11 years and expect that students will leave the workshop with enough material to work on until next year’s sessions. Students attend from across Canada, the US, Europe, South America, Asia and Australia. Resident and non-resident tuitions are available and registration has already begun for the 2006 seminars.
