Tentative Agreement Reached Between The AFM and the AMPTP
The American Federation of Musicians (AFM) of the US and Canada reached a tentative agreement back in June with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) on the behalf of the theatrical motion picture television industry for a new collective bargaining agreement. The old agreement was set to expire on August 16, 2005.
The specific details of the agreement have not yet been released and are awaiting membership ratification.
"The cornerstone of these negotiations was our commitment to ensuring that motion pictures and television productions continue to be scored using the best musicians in the world: musicians in the United States and Canada who are represented by the AFM," said AFM President Thomas F. Lee. "We have every belief that our agreement will work for the mutual benefit of our musicians and the industry, and that under it we can prosper together for the foreseeable future."
The American Federation of Musicians of the United States and Canada is the largest organization in the world dedicated to representing the interests of professional musicians.
