20th Anniversary Of SXSW
From March 15-19, 2006, the 20th South by Southwest (SXSW) Music Conference and Festival will be held at the Austin Convention Centre in Austin, TX, and applications are now being accepted for performing acts.
Musicians, record company executives, club owners, radio programmers, journalists, publicists and many more industry leaders will gather at the SXSW to view over one thousand artists and solo acts perform on 60 stages set up in downtown Austin. They will also have the chance to participate in panel discussions, workshops, one-on-one interviews and see the Trade Show at the Austin Convention Centre.
Bands and solo artists who are geared up to perform can apply online. After applying, enclose a CD with at least three original songs, a photo, a biography and a press kit into one package and mail it to the address below. Materials will not be returned, as they will become the property of SXSW, Inc. The early application deadline is Oct. 7, with an application fee of $10. The late deadline for domestic acts is Oct. 24, for international acts it's Nov. 7. The late application fee is $20. All applications and payments must be made online using a credit card. The performing artists will be notified no later than Feb. 7, 2006.
The musical genres include alternative country, bluegrass, blues, country, DJ, electronic, experimental, hip-hop, jazz, Latin, metal, pop, rock, punk, singer/songwriter, world and reggae.
