Hot Gear
Moog Slim Phatty Synth

Moog Music has announced the release of its Slim Phatty Synthesizer. Based on the company’s Little Phatty sound engine, the Slim Phatty is the latest descendant of the Minimoog Model D and features the classic Moog Ladder Filter.

In addition to shaping the sound of its onboard oscillators, the Slim Phatty’s filter also serves as a production tool that can be used to process external audio, effecting the audio source with everything from smooth analog warmth through wet, resonant filter sweeps. The Slim Phatty also features a new tuning scale feature and editor, allowing for easy exploration of alternate scales and tunings.

In addition to the world of MIDI and USB gear, the Slim Phatty’s Control Voltage inputs give it unlimited realms of expression and sound design possibilities. Modular synth-style patching with the Moogerfooger effects processors, the CP-251 Control Voltage Processor, and other Moog synths (including the Moog Guitar) creates soundscapes previously available only on large modular systems.

Marshall Class5 Combo Amp

Marshall has announced the release of its Class5 five-watt, all-valve combo amp that features true class A circuitry from input to output. Created in the Bluesbreaker style, the Class5 features a top-loaded, Plexi-esque panel comprising volume, treble, middle, and bass controls.

The all-valve signal path offers Marshall’s signature analog tones while the specially-designed G10F-15 speaker, developed in conjunction with Celestion, has been developed to provide the Class5 with full bottom-end clout for an amp of its stature while also retaining tonal clarity and definition. The rear panel offers both a headphone out and 16-ohm extension cab output sockets.
