Kemal Evans’ music is a mix of hip-hop, soul, reggae, and rock, all blended into a light and easy-to-digest sound; think Ben Harper meets Sublime meets k-os.
Evans is currently working on his second album, and the songs that he’s shared so far lead me to believe the album could catapult him into heavy rotation on Canada’s airwaves. Evans succeeds in making music that’s palatable to almost everyone, but also has enough substance to keep you coming back for another listen with more to pick up each time. His music is certainly a blend of many styles, but is certainly not crafted in a superficial sense. Lots of fun.
