November 2004 NXNE Submissions Now Being Accepted The 11th annual North By Northeast (NXNE) music festival and conference is now accepting submissions from bands and artists who want to rock out at this year’s showcase event, which will be happening in Toronto on June 9-11, 2005. At NXNE, there are several avenues for people to expose their bands to both the industry and the public. Besides having the pleasure of three evenings full of live music showcases at 25 different venues around Toronto’s downtown, all Canadian submissions will be eligible for the 102.1 The Edge New Rock Search Showcase 2005, as well as the Galaxie Rising Star Award. All showcases are judged by attending audiences, therefore all performing acts are eligible for the NXNE/Universal Music Canada Fan Choice Award at the closing stages of the festival. Additionally, NXNE is a great place for solo artists or bands to make contacts within the industry and gain knowledge of how this wild music industry works. Submissions will be accepted until 5 p.m. on January 14, 2005. From now until December 31, 2004, submissions are $20; there is a 30 per cent discount for people who sign up early. After January 1, 2005 the submission fee will rise to $30. For more information, visit www.nxne.com. Search our news stories |
