The Next Big Thing In Essential Festival Gear?

Thursday, February 9th, 2012

I get a ton of press releases sent to me everyday. The majority announce the latest musical instrument gear, industry initiatives, contests, events ect… Every now and then, however, I’ll receive a release that will bring my finger to my head and initiate a scratching motion. This morning, one such release landed in my inbox.

I wish to present to you the Selk’bag 4G Lite, a “lightweight, brightly coloured, wearable sleeping bag” – think the Snuggie on steroids. Obviously designed for the high-performance outdoor aficionado, the company is trying to market the Selk’bag towards summer festivalgoers as a solution that “will keep you warm, and turn some heads, at summer festivals” while highlighting: “Passing out in the grass at Lollapalooza or HullabaLOU just got more comfortable with the 4G Lite Sleepwear System from Selk’bag.”

Whether this will catch on at this summer’s festival circuit will yet to be seen. My guess is that it may be a tough sell, although, as the press release states: “You can even play guitar in it by slipping your hands out the Velcro slits.”
