Jazz Drummer Joe Morello Dead at 82

Wednesday, March 16th, 2011

On March 12, 2011, the world lost one of its greatest drummers and musicians with the passing of Joe Morello at the age of 82.
The first time I watched a video of Morello playing the drums, I was caught in a trance. From his bare-handed technique to lighting fast triplets and rolls, Morello amazed audiences without even appearing to break a sweat. The often remarked observation that “They don’t make music like they used to” really applies to Morello, but don’t take it from me, check him out for yourself.
