A benefit concert for ArtsCan Circle is being hosted on Saturday, April 10, 2010 at 7:30 p.m. at the Fox & Fiddle event centre in Newmarket, ON. The night’s headliner is a good friend (and soon-to-be-contributor) to CM, Mr. Wendell Ferguson. Let me tell you first-hand – he can play.

Hi Everyone!

So it is an important week for Toronto, as artists, and business professionals within the Music Industry gather to learn, network, and listen to some wonderful music in the city core. Yesterday at the Royal York was a great day! Myself and Ashley our intern got the opportunity to attend some insightful panels, watch a crazy guy run around in a mouse hat with a video camera, and meet some new, friendly people. Included in our day was the interview with Slash, which housed so many attendees that the line up to get in wrapped around the venue!

So this will be our last installment from the ECMAs in Sydney. Saturday night was a total blast. It was nice catching up with old friends and making some new ones.

Last night’s awards show found Joel Plaskett proving "good things come in threes" by taking home 6 ECMAs for his triple disc. Every one is more than deserved. Almost as exciting is the fact that In-Flight Safety, Catherine MacLellan, and The Motorleague took home two awards each. Finally, we all owe a huge CONGRATULATIONS to former CM Showcase writer, Doug Gallant, who took home media person of the year.

It was a great weekend all around – a perfect balance between getting a lot of work done and having a lot of fun. Thanks to Gina at the Premiere Executive Suites, all of the volunteers throughout the weekend, and especially the ECMA staff, who worked extremely hard to bring the industry together. See you all in Charlottetown for 2011.
