CIRAA Expands Groundbreaker Grant Program

Thursday, September 1st, 2011

The Canadian Independent Recording Artists’ Association (CIRAA) has announced that Montreal-based Bandzoogle, the rapidly growing band website platform, has signed on as a sponsor of the CIRAA Groundbreaker grant program.

Bandzoogle is the creator of a website development platform (containing hundreds of design layouts from which to choose) that enables artists to build their website in minutes with no web-design skills needed, including features such as selling merch, building a fan community, and more.

“The Groundbreaker grant is a perfect way for us to give back to the Canadian artist community that has helped make Bandzoogle the most powerful band website platform,” says Bandzoogle Founder Chris Vinson. “We regularly interact with our members and the music community at large through our popular blog and social networks, however the Groundbreaker grant is a great opportunity to connect with thousands of active independent artists across Canada, and to directly support them with funds for their gigs.”

Stuttering To The Top Of The Charts

Thursday, August 11th, 2011

The Stuttering Foundation, a nonprofit organization helping people who stutter since 1947, has recognized the song “You Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet”, a 1974 number one hit by Bachman-Turner Overdrive, as being the most unique of the many rock songs featuring stuttering vocals.

Jane Fraser, President of the Stuttering Foundation, said recently: “Not only was “You Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet” the first song with stuttering vocals to reach number one, but more importantly it was the first such song that was actually about a real person who stutters and therefore has a human connection to the struggles faced by someone who stutters.”

There have been numerous songs in the rock era that display stuttering vocals. Among them have been Too Much Time on My Hands by Styx, My Sharona by The Knack, Changes by David Bowie, My Generation by The Who, Benny and the Jets by Elton John, and many more. (more…)
