Halifax Pop Explosion Conference Details Released

TRY-HPX-CONFThe details of the conference portion of the 25th Halifax Pop Explosion have been released. HPX25 will be held in venues around downtown Halifax, NS from Oct. 18-21, with the three-day conference be held from Oct. 19-21.

The first day of the conference on Thursday, Oct. 19 will feature presentations on entertainment law, legal access to the U.S. markets, publicity and branding, festival management, and an examination of emerging label Buzz Records. These sessions are all free and open to the public, though seating is limited. The Canadian Label Summit and Halifax Pop Explosion Sync Summit will also kick off with focused, high-level roundtable discussions for registered participants. These sessions require pre-registration.

Day two on Friday, Oct. 20 will feature a series of keynote presentations from important industry figures. Malcom London, Laina Dawes, and 2017 Polaris Prize-winner Lido Pimienta will speak about their long and storied time in the industry, as well as well as their differing experiences. Day two of the Canadian Label Summit will feature roundtable discussions and one-on-one meetings for registered participants, a focused look at Treefort Festival, as well as the Festival and Venue Symposium.

Day three of the conference, on Saturday, Oct. 21, will focus on all-ages programming, with several panels and presentations dedicated to the all-ages scene, including an all-ages roundtable aimed at revitalizing and supporting the all-ages scene. These sessions are all free and open to the public. Women in Music Canada will present a Mentor Café in partnership with Music Ontario, which is open to women, female-identifying, and non-binary persons. Participants will seek advice and mentorship from female delegates.
