June 22nd, 2017

honey jam smallHoney Jam, now in it’s 22nd year, has completed it’s nation-wide search in Canada for female artists, ages 14-25, representing pop, hip hop, jazz, soca, r&b, gospel, rock, dancehall, blues, alternative, opera, country – all styles of music. Artists at the live auditions in Toronto had one minute to show their talent in front of a dozen music industry judges including the legendary Director X.

“One of the most inspiring things to watch is young people going after their dreams,” says Ebonnie Rowe, founder of Honey Jam. The concert, made up of the artists in a variety of genres from across the country (out of province artists submitted auditions online), will take place on Thursday, August 24, 2017 at The Mod Club (722 College Street) in Toronto.

All of the artists chosen to perform this year will: attend a free music industry workshop at Harris Institute; receive one-on-one vocal and performance coaching from celebrity coach Elaine Overholt of Big Voice Studios; have their original songs played on radio; receive one hour of A&R consultation time from Universal Music.

One artist chosen for the Toronto show in August will be given demo sessions at Slaight Studios and the opportunity to attend Canada’s Walk of Fame ceremony. As well, a Toronto-based Honey Jam artist, 18 years or older will be chosen to take part in the Artist Entrepreneur program offered by Canada’s Music Incubator (CMI) at Coalition Music. Artist Entrepreneur is a 10-week professional development program that delivers high-level, customized music industry mentorship for emerging artists of all genres. The successful artist will be chosen by a panel of CMI’s experienced mentors and members of the Honey Jam team.

One lucky winner will also have the opportunity to perform in Barbados in November, including flight and hotel costs.
