Bell Aliant Canadian Song Conference Starts Next Week in PEI

unnamed (6)The 2017 Bell Aliant Canadian Song Conference will be kicking on Wednesday, May 10th and running until the 13th in Charlottetown, PEI. The registration is open and is free for Music PEI members.

The Bell Aliant Canadian Song Conference focuses on both the art and the commerce of songs and music. Industry leaders will discuss and advise on where those revenue streams are and how to access, develop and manage them to their maximum potential including licensing for film, TV, video games, commercials, royalties and more. In addition, discussions will focus on the songwriting process from concept to recording and the roles that various professionals take from co-writers to producers and recording engineers as well as emerging and masterclass songwriting sessions.

Conference events include:

Thursday May 11th
Creative Songwriting Workshop *

Join local masters of narrative, Lennie Gallant andDennis Ellsworth, as they guide you through an intimate journey through the craft of songwriting. They’ll also discuss the art and power of co-writing.

Listening Sessions  *
Selected artists will have an opportunity to present two of their recorded songs to our group of Music Supervisors and Publishers in an effort to have their music used in projects.

Friday May 12th
One on One Meetings *
Island artists have the opportunity to have a 1-on-1 session with the delegates. The list of delegates and their bios is now available on the Canadian Song Conference website.

Saturday May 13th
The Audience is Listening– Live Sound 101
Understand the trials and tribulations of the sound man. Sound engineer and producer, Jon Matthews, will run a step by step tutorial for a standard live sound setup. He’ll also help artists understand how to properly request the desired sound they are seeking during live performances.
