Nominations Close Jan. 31 for 2017 Canadian Music & Broadcast Industry Awards

CMMBAThere are only five days left to get your nominations in for the 2017 Canadian Music & Broadcast Industry Awards, which will be given out at a gala during Canadian Music Week (CMW) at the Sheraton Centre in Toronto on April 20, 2017. The CMBIAs have become a highlight of CMW as a grand celebration of Canadian broadcasters and music industry standouts.

CM’s Andrew King Among the Industry Judges for CBC Searchlight 2017

Searchlight-Promo-FB or TwitterCBC Music has announced the industry panel for Searchlight 2017 and it include none other than Canadian Musician’s own Editor-in-Chief, Andrew King, alongside a host of prominent personalities from around the Canadian music scene and industry. Through the Searchlight contest, CBC Music is searching for “Canada’s next great music act,” and submissions are currently being accepted until Feb. 7, 2017.

The industry panel for Searchlight 2017 is comprised of top artists, music producers and radio hosts, as well as other music industry professionals in A&R, artist management, music publishing, concert promotion, music journalism, publicity and music festival production. Our panelists will be grading the submissions that make it to the regional finals to help determine the 23 winners who will advance to the national round. Meet the judges who are on this year’s panel, listed below in alphabetical order according to their first names.

CCMA Discovery Program Submissions Deadline Extended to Jan. 31

CCMA_Discovery_Logo_2014_CS_3The deadline for submissions for the 2017 CCMA Discovery Program has been EXTENDED to Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. ET.

The 2017 CCMA Discovery Program will see six jury-selected finalists flown to Toronto for Music Industry Discovery Week this spring, where they’ll learn in-depth about the music business, meet key players in the industry, perform at an exclusive showcase, and so much more. Each finalist will also be paired with an established Canadian country artist for a mentorship opportunity, in addition to performing at the CCMA Discovery Showcase, an official PotashCorp Country Music Week event. One finalist will be presented with the 2017 CCMA Discovery Award at the CCMA Gala Dinner & Awards, as part of PotashCorp Country Music Week 2017 in Saskatoon.

CBC Music’s Searchlight 2017 Contest Submissions Open Today

CBC Music’s annual contest to find Canada’s next big music act kicks-off today, Jan. 17, 2017. Submissions for Searchlight 2017 are officially open, with the deadline for entry being Feb. 7, 2017. Musicians of all types, including solo artists, duos, and groups from all genres are encouraged to enter via cbcmusic.ca/searchlight.

Similar to last year, the competition will come to life on CBC, as the top four finalists compete on a live broadcast for the Searchlight title.

This survey helps to evaluate the changes in behavior and attitudes with regards to Piracy and illegal downloading of music software. Piracy is a significant problem for the software industry. IMSTA is asking musicians and audio professionals, semi-pros, and hobbyists to take five minutes to help the music making industry by taking this survey.
