The Carleton Music Bar & Grill, a very popular live music venue in Halifax, NS, has launched a crowdfunding campaign to help it through some financial woes brought on by the construction of the near-by, very large Nova Centre complex.

The Carleton’s owner, Mike Campbell, says his business has been severely hurt by the drop in foot traffic in the downtown neighbourhood because of the construction. He estimates there has been a 30 per cent drop in business since the construction began. He told the CBC that he lost about $300,000 in revenue in 2015 compared to the year before construction started.

Thursday, January 14th, 2016

King RaineHave you shared your music and story with dozens or even hundreds of media outlets and received little to no response or publicity? Music Biz Excited At Growth Potential In China

Tuesday, December 22nd, 2015

chinaThe following is from FYI Music News:

As the music industry finds opportunities for growth in the West to be increasingly limited, it’s no surprise that they are focusing plenty of energy on such emerging and high-potential markets as China and India.

According to the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry’s 2015 World Ranking report, China ranked No. 19 in global trade revenues, but that positioning will change dramatically, and soon. Ariel Fung, executive vice-president of marketing of Sony Music Entertainment Asia, was recently quoted in chinadaily.com as saying “we believe that China will rank in the top five or even top three in the world music market in the next five years or even sooner.
