Blog Post About A Blog Post

I came across a blog post by Mike (I think…) of F***ed Up about the band’s experiences at SXSW over the last few years. It’s an interesting read, regardless of whether or not you agree with all of his points.

The band has certainly drawn a nice balance between creating uncompromising music and still enjoying a respectable degree of success. In fact, last year’s The Chemistry of Common Life was one of the 10 best Canadian records of 2009 according to this humble blogger, and actually named the best Canadian release by the reputable folks on the Polaris Music Prize jury. Anyhow, enjoy the read and feel free to post comments.

A benefit concert for ArtsCan Circle is being hosted on Saturday, April 10, 2010 at 7:30 p.m. at the Fox & Fiddle event centre in Newmarket, ON. The night’s headliner is a good friend (and soon-to-be-contributor) to CM, Mr. Wendell Ferguson. Let me tell you first-hand – he can play.

ArtsCan Circle is a terrific organization that brings music and the arts to First Nations communities across the country. In summation: you have no excuse to miss this if you live anywhere near Newmarket. Bring some friends, share some sodas, and enjoy the plucking.

Hi Everyone!

So it is an important week for Toronto, as artists, and business professionals within the Music Industry gather to learn, network, and listen to some wonderful music in the city core. Yesterday at the Royal York was a great day! Myself and Ashley our intern got the opportunity to attend some insightful panels, watch a crazy guy run around in a mouse hat with a video camera, and meet some new, friendly people. Included in our day was the interview with Slash, which housed so many attendees that the line up to get in wrapped around the venue!

Check back in a few days for my Saturday’s entry, which will include some video, interviews, and fun happening at this year’s CMW!

Bye for now

Toronto’s own Dinosaur Bones are set to rock CMW with their brand of spastic alt.-pop. Currently celebrating their two-year anniversary as a band, they recently dropped "Royalty"/"Ice Hotels" 7" and are ready to make a splash at this year’s festival. Vocalist and guitarist Ben Fox took some time out to answer a few questions for CM – both quirky and helpful to their fellow up-and-comers…
