Honey Jam 2017 Auditions set for June 3 in Toronto

Monday, March 27th, 2017

Honey Jam smallAuditions for the 2017 Honey Jam Showcase will be held on Saturday, June 3 at Revival in Toronto at 2 p.m. As always, Honey Jam auditions are open to all female artists ages 14 to 25 in any genre. The final Honey Jam showcase will be held Aug. 24, 2017 in Toronto.

Admission for the auditions, including artists and spectators, is $10. Artists are encouraged to arrive at least one hour early to register as there are a limited number of spots. Artists outside of Ontario may submit their audition online here: www.honeyjam.com/ent/form.

For the in-person auditions on June 3rd, artists must bring a one-page bio with photo, which should include age, address, email, whether or not the artist has a manager and, if so, his/her contact info, how long they have been performing, places you have performed in the past, and any upcoming gigs, websites, etc. Also, artist must bring any background music on CD. The track they are using should be the only thing on the CD, which should also be cued and labelled with their name.

All of the artists chosen to perform this year will: attend a free music industry workshop at Harris Institute; receive one-on-one vocal and performance coaching from celebrity coach Elaine Overholt of Big Voice Studios; have their original songs played on radio; receive one hour of A&R consultation time from Universal Music.

One artist chosen for the Toronto show in August will be given demo sessions at Slaight Studios and the opportunity to attend Canada’s Walk of Fame ceremony. As well, a Toronto-based Honey Jam artist, 18 years or older will be chosen to take part in the Artist Entrepreneur program offered by Canada’s Music Incubator (CMI) at Coalition Music. Artist Entrepreneur is a 10-week professional development program that delivers high-level, customized music industry mentorship for emerging artists of all genres. The successful artist will be chosen by a panel of CMI’s experienced mentors and members of the Honey Jam team.

One lucky winner will also have the opportunity to perform in Barbados in November, including flight and hotel costs.
