The Nimbus School of Recording & Media has announced the return of the YVR Songshop. Back for its second year, this exclusive five-day event will take place at Nimbus’s studios in Vancouver, BC from April 26-May 1st 2016.

Sponsored by Music BC, SOCAN, CCMIA, and Bell Media, Nimbus has curated a workshop that provides a practical toolkit to help songwriters develop their skills in the craft of writing unique, commercially aware songs.

“My father, Jack Richardson, C.M., taught me that ‘good songs sell, bad songs don’t’. It’s all about great songs.  I’m thrilled that there are so many songwriters wanting to hone their craft,” said Nimbus co-founder GGGarth Richardson. “We always want to support the local music scene – I’m excited to see what songs come out of this year’s Songshop”.

Guest faculty for the 2016 workshop will include: Blair Packham (Song Studio), Dave “The Song Doctor” Genn (54-40), Shaun Verrault (Wide Mouth Mason), and more.

Building on the success of last year, Nimbus has crafted each day of the 2016 workshop to challenge and inspire creativity while giving participants practical business tools to develop their careers in professional songwriting, according to organizers.

The 2016 Workshop Schedule Includes:

  • Songwriting Critique, Exercises and Collaboration
  • Music Business Trends and Tips
  • Demo Recording Toolkit For Songwriters
  • Artist Development:  How To Succeed In The Music Industry
  • Demo Recording Sessions
  • Listening Party with feedback from Industry Professionals (Radio, Music Supervisors, Managers)
