Notice from SOCAN:

Folk Music Ontario (FMO) is now accepting official/family showcase applications, Songs from the Heart applications, and members-only advance purchase conference registration from Ontario-based SOCAN members and other artists.

There are 36 official showcase and two family showcase slots available at the conference. Criteria that the jury will consider can be downloaded here, and more information is available on the FMO website’s Conference Showcasing page.

The Songs from the Heart songwriting competition is open to residents of Ontario and the National Capital Region. The jury will choose two overall winners – one English and one French – and five sub-category winners. To learn more about the Songs from the Heart competition, click here.

The application fee for both official/family showcase applications and Songs from the Heart applications is $20 for FMO members and $40 for non-members. Applications will be accepted until May 31, 2016.

FMO members planning to attend the 30th anniversary conference, Oct. 20-23, 2016, at the Delta Ottawa City Centre, are encouraged to register before May 31 in order to realize the best savings. Membership must be valid at least until Oct. 31, 2016.

The members-only advance purchase registration rate for the entire conference weekend is only $242.30. This will increase to $360.95 on June 1 (early bird rate). Non-member early bird registration will also open on June 1, at a rate of $479.60.
