Submissions open for SOCAN Song House at ECMW 2015

Submissions are now open for the first ever SOCAN Song House at Eastlink East Coast Music Week (ECMW) 2015, which is scheduled for April 8 and 9, 2015 in St. John’s, NL.

Ralph Murphy (songwriter, producer, and author of Murphy’s Law of Songwriting) and Chad Richardson (songwriter and General Manager of SOCAN Los Angeles) will lead the two-day interactive workshop. Twelve songwriter participants will be selected to gain valuable insight into the craft of writing a hit song. This initiative aligns with SOCAN’s new A&R strategy to help members improve their song writing and reach new heights in their careers.

“As a native of the east coast [Newfoundland], I know very well the incredible pool of songwriters and artists that we can boast as our own,” says Richardson. “This two-day intensive songwriting workshop is going to be an amazing exercise in creativity and as a company on the front lines of Canadian music, SOCAN is extremely proud to join Ralph and take part.”
Songwriter participants must meet the following criteria:

– Focus specifically on pop and country music genres

– Either a SOCAN member or ECMA member based in Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, Cape Breton, New Brunswick, and/or Prince Edward Island

– Attend ECMW and available Wednesday, April 8 and Thursday, April 9

– Eager, ready to learn and enthusiastic
