From The Road: The Penske FileFriday, April 19th, 2013
My name is Travis Miles, and I am a new correspondent for Canadian Musician magazine
Ever since I was in the second grade I have had a profound infatuation with music. From the lyrics and melodies, to the song arrangement and production, I am fascinated by each ounce of effort that is put into making a solid record, and supporting it.
I, myself, play in a melodic punk rock band called The Penske File. The band, which consists of me and my two closest friends, is bred from this intense love and appreciation of music alongside the inevitable boredom that magnetizes to a suburban childhood.
I have been playing music with James Hall (bass) and Alex Standen (drums) since the eighth grade; however, our serious and desperate pursuit can be tracked to 2010 when we graduated high school and lost our dearest friend and once-bandmate. Since then, we have release two EPs and played alongside No Use For A Name, The Flatliners, Guttermouth, Silverstein and many other notables. We have also toured Ontario, Quebec, and Western Canada.
Our Debut full length record, A Restless Symphony, is due online and in select stores via Young Heart Music on April 26th and will be supported by a cross-Canada tour.
I write because it is what I love to do, and I write about music because I love music. On this site, I will be posting stories detailing my accounts in the industry and on the road, as well as features on artists who I enjoy and come across in my travels. Check back and enjoy.
