SOCAN Goes To Bat At Supreme Court Hearing
Wednesday, December 7th, 2011Both yesterday and today, representatives for SOCAN appeared before the Supreme Court of Canada to represent the interests of its members in three copyright cases related to the use of music on the Internet by large telecommunications and broadcasting corporations – Rogers, Bell, Telus, Apple, and Shaw among them.
The organization feels these businesses are profiting (significantly) from the use of copyright-protected music online without properly compensating its creators.
